Turn Your Front Seats Into Living Space — Without Raising Your Head.
The Scopema seat swivel lets you rotate your Ford Transit's driver or passenger seat to face the cabin, turning your van into a functional space for dining, working, or relaxing. When it's time to drive, a simple lever locks the seat securely back into the forward-facing position.
At only 23 mm (7/8") of added height, this is the lowest-profile swivel on the market. Your headroom, legroom, and driving position stay virtually unchanged — no awkward seating adjustments, no feeling like you're sitting on a booster. Built with heavy-duty steel plates and Teflon stabilizing supports, it delivers a quiet, rattle-free rotation that holds up over years of daily use.
Fits all 2013 and newer Ford Transit vans. Installation uses your factory mounting points with all hardware included — no drilling, no major modifications. Most installs take under an hour with basic hand tools.
Designed and manufactured by Scopema in France, this swivel meets TÜV European safety standards and is used by professional van conversion shops worldwide.
Now available in the New Generation design — lighter, more streamlined, and even easier to install, while keeping the same 23 mm low-profile build and OEM-grade durability.
Which variant do I need?
New Generation — Scopema's latest design. Lighter and easier to install. Recommended for all new purchases.
Original (no "New Generation" label) — The previous Scopema design. Choose this if you're matching an existing original-generation swivel already installed on the other seat, or want a discounted price while stock lasts.
Driver + Hand Brake Adapter — Required for the driver side if your Transit has a manual (lever-style) parking brake. If your Transit has an electronic parking brake (push button), choose the standard Driver variant instead.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Scopema seat swivel base (driver or passenger, based on your selection)
- All installation hardware (bolts, spacers)
- Installation instructions
Driver + Hand Brake Adapter variant also includes:
- 1 × Handbrake relocation/lowering kit with hardware
Good to know: On some Ford Transit model years and trim levels, the seat rail may lightly contact the door panel edge when swiveling. Minor trimming of interior plastic trim may be needed. This is normal and common across all Transit seat swivel brands — not specific to Scopema.
- Compatibility: 2013 and newer Ford Transit vans (all roof heights, all wheelbases)
- Swivel weight: Approximately 30 lbs / 13.6 kg per swivel
- Shipping weight: Approximately 32 lbs per swivel
- Added seat height: 23 mm (7/8") — lowest profile on the market
- Construction: Heavy-duty steel plates with Teflon stabilizing supports
- Manufactured by: Scopema, France
- Certification: TÜV European standards compliant
- Rotation: Seat swivels rearward toward cabin; locks in forward-facing position only
- Hardware: All installation hardware included
- Installation time: Approximately 45–60 minutes per seat with basic hand tools
- Not compatible with: Suspension seats or 10-way powered seat bases (standard seat base only)
- Parking brake: Driver side requires handbrake adapter (included with "Driver + Hand Brake Adapter" variant). Not required if your Transit has an electronic parking brake.
Please note:
SCOPEMA swivels are not designed to be operated while under load. Use of this product when seated will cause permanent damage to the swivel mechanism and generate an audible grinding noise.
If you are experiencing unusual noise while operating the swivel after installation, this is often due to:
- Initial stiffness of the mechanism
- Insufficient lubrication
- Improper installation
- and/or improper use of the product.
To resolve this issue, please review the correct installation method in this video and apply lubrication.
If the issue persists, please contact us for support.
How much height does the Scopema swivel add to the seat? Only 23 mm (7/8 of an inch). This is the lowest profile swivel on the market — most competing swivels add over 1.25" (32mm). You'll barely notice the difference in headroom or driving position.
What year Ford Transit does this fit? All 2013 and newer Ford Transit vans, including all roof heights (low, medium, high) and all wheelbases.
Do I need the handbrake adapter for the driver side? If your Transit has a manual/mechanical parking brake (the traditional hand lever), yes — choose the "Driver + Hand Brake Adapter" variant. If your Transit has an electronic parking brake (push button), the standard Driver variant will work without the adapter.
Can I swivel the seat while sitting in it? No. Scopema swivels must be operated while unloaded (not sitting in the seat). Swiveling while seated will damage the mechanism and void the warranty. Stand up, swivel the seat, then sit back down.
Does the seat lock in both directions? The seat locks in the forward-facing driving position only. It does not lock in the rearward/cabin-facing position. The seat should only be in the forward-locked position while the vehicle is in motion.
Is the Scopema swivel noisy or rattly? No — when properly installed and lubricated, it's quiet and rattle-free. If you hear grinding after installation, it's typically due to insufficient lubrication or the mechanism needing a break-in period. See our installation video for proper setup.
What's the difference between New Generation and the original? The New Generation is Scopema's latest design — lighter, more streamlined, and slightly easier to install. Same low-profile height (23mm), same durability, same compatibility. We recommend the New Generation for new purchases.
Will this work with powered/electric seats? This swivel has been tested with standard (manual) seat bases. It has not been confirmed compatible with the 10-way powered seat option. If your Transit has power-adjustable seats, contact us before ordering.
Is the Scopema swivel crash-tested? The swivel complies with TÜV European safety standards. It has not been tested for DOT FMVSS 207 (the US/Canadian standard). It is the installer's responsibility to meet FMVSS 207 requirements.
Product Reviews
Overall, I like the swivels. The holes didn’t line up perfectly, so I ended up stripping the bolts provided, but eventually made a work around.
It was fast shipping to the east coast. It got here before my van got out of storage. The install took a little longer as one hole did not align properly. I had to file some before the bolt went in. We are heading to Newfoundland week and my wife can't wait to try it out. 😀
Fait le travail à la perfection.
Swivel works great. Great crew down there, they got me in quick and had the install done in under an hour. Totally worth it, as it would have taken me much longer on my own. Will definitely go back to these guys for anything else I need in the future.
Great price, delivery on time, perfect fit.
