Packing Away, the Nomad Way: Storage Solutions for Your Sprinter

Packing Away, the Nomad Way: Storage Solutions for Your Sprinter

You Don't Add More Room. You Rethink How the Room Works.

Whether you love the ritual of packing or just want it done, storage is part of the equation. It's built into every trip. You've probably felt like there's extra space to be found, or you've been thinking about how to make that extra space.

And there's always space. You just need to find it. Sailors solved this a long time ago — a sailboat makes incredible use of every inch given its size constraints. Packing for a trip in an overlanding vehicle like a Nomad Vanz Sprinter van is no different. That's exactly what we've been refining in our builds over years of iteration, real-world use, and client feedback.

Rear Door Storage Pockets

One of the first places we looked was the rear doors. Your Sprinter ships with two large recessed window wells behind those doors — factory dead space, doing nothing. We turned them into a remarkably useful storage zone.

Our Rear Door Storage Pockets mount over those wells on upholstered, computer-cut panels using Mercedes-Benz OEM clips. Four deep bags total, two per door, with the combined capacity of a large suitcase. Shore power cords, water hoses, bike tools, first aid — everything staged right where you need it, the moment the doors swing open.

The pockets unclip with quick-release fasteners and have built-in carry handles, so they work just as well off the van. We originally designed them for managing laundry on multi-week trips, but most of our clients end up using them for everything from tool organization to grocery runs in town.

Stuff-it Cubes

Then we looked up. Overhead cabinets in a Sprinter conversion are deep and generous — which is exactly what makes them hard to keep organized. Without some kind of internal structure, everything migrates to the back and stays there.

Our Stuff-it Cubes are soft, zippered nylon bags with mesh-lined compartments, sized to slide into standard cabinet openings. Assign a colour per category — clothing, kitchen, toiletries — and every item in the van has a home you can find in the dark.

Adventure Wagon Overhead Storage

For builds using the Adventure Wagon conversion kit, we also recommend the MULE Overhead Storage Locker — a lockable, enclosed compartment that sits above the cab. Wallets, keys, laptops, cameras — anything you'd rather not leave visible when the van is parked at a trailhead or in town.
