When we revealed the exterior of our latest Flagship Build, Sunny Too, we called it a golden salute to a classic era of rally racing. We talked about its vintage-inspired racing stripes, custom slate grey roof rack, and heavy-duty big brakes. But a true Nomad Van isn't just designed to turn heads on the outside—it is a deeply considered, highly functional ecosystem on the inside.

Flagship builds are our playgrounds. They are where our team invents brand-new technology, tests materials to their absolute limits, and refines the everyday rituals of living off the grid. But we don’t design these showcases just to build a one-of-one masterpiece. We build them to develop and perfect the premium, modular products that you can integrate directly into your own Sprinter.

Why We Made It

We endorse what we use. Every Nomad Vanz product earns its place through real miles in real builds. While Sunny Too is a custom flagship, the lifestyle, organization, and comfort it unlocks shouldn't be exclusive. This update exists because we took our core design philosophies inside the cabin, kept driving, and brought those exact components straight to our shop shelves.

Here is how we threw a hip-twist on mid-century modern design inside Sunny Too—and the exact, shop-ready components you can use to bring that same flagship engineering into your own driveway.

The Threshold: Letting the Breeze In, Keeping the Trail Out

Step through the sliding door of Sunny Too and you’re met with a kaleidoscope of color, anchored by our signature orange floor and warm architectural accents. But the threshold of an adventure van is a chaotic boundary. It has to gracefully manage the constant transition between the dusty trail and a refined, comfortable living space.

To maintain that balance, Sunny Too relies on the Nomad Vanz Bug Out Screen (Coming soon to the Nomad Vanz Online Shop). We spent hours obsessing over the details of this screen because nothing else on the market offered the right mix of durability and seamless design. Built with premium no-see-um screening, it lets the afternoon light and fresh air sweep through the cabin while keeping insects entirely at bay.

True to our design language, the construction disappears so the utility can speak. It features hidden rare earth magnets that allow you to slip in and out effortlessly with your hands full, sealing shut automatically behind you. For Sunny Too, we gave it a playful nod with a vibrant orange zipper to match the exterior accents, but its real beauty lies in its minimalism—when the coast is clear, you can unzip the mesh and stash the screen completely away.

To protect the cab floor just ahead of it, we deployed our custom-fit Nomad Vanz Matz. Hand-sewn right here in North Vancouver out of commercial-grade Chilewich woven textile, they absorb wet boots, heavy grit, and years of hard use while reading as a restrained, premium design element rather than a basic accessory.

The Gourmet Galley: Small-Scale Organization

Cooking off-grid requires a dance of efficiency. In Sunny Too’s Gourmet Galley Kitchen, full-depth cabinets and lightweight millwork maximize storage, but traveling down washboard forest service roads will quickly turn unsecure cabinets into a rattling, chaotic mess.

High-End Provisions for Off-Grid Dinners

A true flagship build should support serious, scratch-cooked meals anywhere your coordinates take you. Inside Sunny Too’s Gourmet Galley, the combination of lightweight millwork and deep cabinetry acts as the perfect structural frame for a high-end residential cooking experience. We moved entirely past traditional plastic camp plates, choosing instead to curate a sophisticated kitchenware lineup that brings tactile luxury to your off-grid table.

Every single tool in our provisions cabinet is selected for its durability, space-saving geometry, and acoustic silence during high-speed transit. To streamline our campsite meal prep, we rely on the compact Porlex Ceramic Spice Mill 3. Featuring a sleek glass body and a secure cap that prevents fine aromas from escaping, this mill utilizes a durable ceramic grinding mechanism that perfectly processes rock salt, whole peppercorns, or dried trail herbs without wearing out.

To bring flagship-level serenity to your kitchen drawers and upper cabinets, we designed Nomad Vanz Stuff-it Cubes. These lightweight, structural canvas cubes are built to fit the unique geometry of van cabinetry. They don't just stop your provisions, spices, and camp kitchen tools from shifting during transit; they allow you to organize, modularize, and completely visualize your gear. Instead of digging through deep overhead lockers in the dark, you simply pull out a cube and find exactly what you need. It's a small design decision that yields massive peace of mind.

Out the Back: Reclaiming the Dead Space

Walk around to the rear of Sunny Too, and you’ll find a gear garage designed for serious multi-sport pursuits—complete with a wash-down station, bike repair stands, and integrated mounts. Yet, no matter how much gear you carry, the single most underutilized area in a standard Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is the factory rear doors. It is completely wasted dead space.

We reclaimed that real estate on Sunny Too using the Nomad Vanz Rear Door Storage Pocket System. This structural upgrade transforms the empty voids of your factory door panels into four heavy-duty, clean storage pockets.

Outfitted with integrated carry handles, these removable pockets serve as the ultimate staging area for items you need to grab quickly from the outside: recovery straps, tools, bike wraps, or dirty trail shoes. By migrating these items to the doors, you keep your core garage floor clear and ensure your van stays organized, even when you're living out of the back for weeks at a time.

The Cubby Ecosystem: Small Cleaning Heroes for the Trail

Living on the road means accepting a simple reality: the outside world will always find a way inside your van. Whether it’s coastal sand from a weekend surf trip or interior desert silt tracking across your pristine living quarters, maintaining a clean space is crucial for your long-term comfort. Inside Sunny Too, we addressed this directly with the integrated Nomad Vanz Cubby Storage —a dedicated, streamlined utility zone engineered to keep your cleaning heroes organized and instantly accessible right at the threshold.

We don't do plastic, flimsy grocery-store brooms. Instead, our cubby storage features a curated selection of handcrafted brushes from Redecker, a German legacy manufacturer specializing in sustainable, premium brushware since 1935. For heavy trail grit and sweeping out your side step, we deployed the Redecker Rice Straw Hand Brush. Its curved Dutch shape is explicitly contoured to sweep dirt easily off the factory flooring or your custom woven floor mats without fraying.

For more delicate surfaces, dash panels, and fabric linings, the setup utilizes the ultra-soft dense fibers of the Redecker Split Horsehair Dust Brush alongside the heavy-duty Redecker Dual Light Horsehair Outdoor Brush. Featuring oiled beechwood handles that naturally withstand water and dirt, these tools combine stiff bristles for stubborn stuck-on mud with soft horsehair for fine dust particles. It’s a considered approach to a basic daily ritual, ensuring your interior feels like a sanctuary no matter how harsh the backroads get.
